Restaurants get very busy in season between 8.00 – 9.00pm. If you want quick service and a good table in the most popular restaurants its best to arrive before 8.00pm.

Appetizers

In many restaurants, the waiters put some appetizers/starters on the table without asking. If you eat them, you have to pay. Normally this includes bread, butter and olives and it is not expensive. If you don´t want it, it is better to ask the waiter to take it back.

O Graciano is our closest restaurant on the way into São Brás de Alportel on the left-hand side. Nice family restaurant with good Portuguese food, popular for steak-on-a-stone and nice kebabs. Price range: €€

Horta is closer to São Brás de Alportel, also on the left of the road. A large, very typical Portuguese restaurant. They have a good menu at reasonable price, including excellent fish kebabs and good swordfish steaks. Pricerange: €€

Lagar da Mesquita is a bit more up the market, it’s an attractively converted old olive press. On your way to São Brás de Alportel it’s on the left. Good food and service in very nice atmosphere but a little bit expensive. Pricerange: €€€€

Ysconderijo (the hideaway) is near the main square in São Brás de Alportel. A little bit higher prices, excellent food, very well presented and good service. We think that this is our best restaurant in São Brás. Recommended. Pricerange: €€€€

Beira Serra is a bit north before arriving to São Brás de Alportel. Many locals, good genuine Portuguese food, generous portions, quite noisy and quite cheap.

Luis dos Frangos is one of the most popular restaurants in São Brás de Alportel, also known as “Chicken Luis”. You find it on the left at the corner of the first junction going into São Brás de Alportel after passing Intermarche. The restaurant is very popular among locals. You sit at long tables and it is a little bit noisy but cheerful. They have good spit roast chicken and grilled meat at good prices. Worth a visit.

Casa da Barreira is a lunch tapas restaurant in a very nice atmosphere in the centre of old town of São Brás de Alportel. Pricerange: €€€

Hamburgueria da Villa is the place to eat hamburgers in São Brás de Alportel. I wide range of very tasty hamburgers and tapas with very good service. Worth a visit if you like hamburgers. We can recommend the 5 peppers burger with brie cheese. Pricerange: €€€

Forneria do Largo - Italian cosy restaurant in city centre with stone oven baked pizza. Best pizzas in São Brás de Alportel. Price range: €€€

Taste of Punjab is our best Indian restaurant in São Brás de Alportel. The food is good, staff and atmosphere friendly and it is good value. Also good for take away. Pricerange: €€

Sabores Campo is a restaurant with a rustic feel and a lovely ambience. Not as loudly and illuminated as other Portuguese restaurants. Excellent service and food and one of the best wine lists in the area. Price range: €€€

Restaurante O Marques is one of our favourite Portuguese restaurants in the area. It has an authentic Portuguese feel but a little bit cosier than other restaurants. Good food and service in a nice atmosphere. The parking is a bit limited. Price range: €€

Rocha da Gralheira is a rural hotel that serves Brazilian barbecue, very affordable. All you can eat, one price. Come hungry J Price range: €€€
